Did I Like The Summer Scholar Program

I have to say that the summer scholar program was allot of fun for me, because I meet some people who are very nice and kind to me (No Names). When I first started out in the dorm I was so excited that I would be living in a dorm with three other guy (Please Be Mature, Noting Sick That You Might Be Thinking Off) who are funny and very nice people to meet. This people who I stayed with is name David, Alfonzo and that other guy Connor, and also will be people who I will never forget. Also what I like most about the summer scholar program is that it's free credit and basically everything is paid for, me classes and my books and supplies, except for gas to get down to UNO.
Sociology is a very interesting course, even though I'm not doing so well. But it's all worth it because we have a great teacher name Dr. Ragaram who is a sociology teacher and also a very funny teacher. She is also a helpfully teacher, especially when I needed help, and the times I needed help. Also sociology helped me understand the world, like how your race and skin color affects how some people see you and I if you are colored like me. Also I would recommended, the next Summer Scholar Program kids to take Sociology because I though it was a interesting class, and also it can probably help you out later in life.

I Love UNO, And Thanks For Being A Great Teacher Dr. Ragaram

My Job shadow

My job shadow was allot of fun for me because I talked to people who played video games or kind of create his own video game. Jay Austin who plays Second Life in the Internet, in which he can basically whatever he wants. He showed me how to play Second Life and I thought it was amazing that there is a website in which I can make my own video game. Later after I have created a account in Second Life, it went horrible because my computer could not handle the server. So later on I hope I can get a better computer, and maybe later I can run Second Life in my server.

London Yang was probably the one who interest me the most because he showed me how to do this graphics in the computer. On how he can create a person or thing and make he/she a living thing, and make a movie out of it. He showed me his movies, that he had made with his character and I thought he did a great job. He told me it was hard work but his work showed off.

Patrick Cavanaugh is a professor in UNO who teach kind of like a game production. He should me, the video games that other students have created an it looked pretty fun to play. Mr. Cavanaugh looks he knows video games very well, because he also teach game history in which I would like to take. What he told me about UNO he interested me to go. Judy Kelly gave me a great tour to the Computer Science area in which it gave me more interestedto go to UNO. After the meeting all this people it made more interested in working in the Game Industry.

Thanks London, Patrick, Jay and Judy for a great job shadow,
John

My Achievements, What Matters To Me, And Who been A Influence To Me, And Why I Want To Attend To Uno Summer Scholar Program

My achievement is when I beat the game called The Elder Scroll IV, Oblivion in which I spent over 180 hours into playing Oblivion. It took me about three months to beat the game but I have to say that it was all worth playing Oblivion. Also beating Grand Theft Auto 4 was something that I was proud of doing. I didn't put too much time into it, only 2 day's worth of playing. Why did I choose playing video games as my accomplishments, will because I love playing video games. In a guess I probably play video games about 20-40 hours a week . My accomplishments that I’m really proud of doing is getting the chance to go to UNO summer scholar program in which I feel really smart about. Writing that essay and having to get two recommendation from those two teachers and having an interview telling about my self was great, and the great part is that I got into UNO. I am also proud that I manage to get a 3.8 G.P.A in which I'm in the Honor Roll right now. It's a big improvement because my elementary/Jr. High was not that impressing as my High School grades.

What really gets on my gear is about racism, how people judge other people but their skin color or how they look. Why it is a big problem to me, is because people assume I'm Mexican (Noting wrong about being a Mexican) but I'm Asian and half Italian. I can't stand it when people ask me if I'm Mexican or not, and even though I told them I'm not, they still say I'm Mexican. I can't stand sitting class, when there talking about illegal immigrants coming to the United States and later on people just starts looking at me weirdly. I can't stand being in a classroom like that. I really hope Obama wins the election because how he is going to change how the economy is right now and hoping he makes people lives better. I don't know how his going to make some change in the U.S but I'm hoping he would win the election and become a great president.

The person who influences me the most is one of my good friends who helped me in life. This person helped me shaped my life into getting good grades, going to the gym even though I'm tired, and he is also my buddy in playing Halo 3 online. We make a good team even though we argue sometimes on how we kept losing, but my friend and I make up by playing more Halo 3 online and walking outside talking about our lives on what's happening. How he influence me on getting good grades is by which, we compare our grades together and see who has the has the highest grade and plus we help each other study on what we need help on. Without him influencing me to go to the gym I would probably be overweight in least than two days. We never work out together but I like to know that I'm the strongest out of the us. Even though he is changing his appearance, more to the Goth than just his normal self that makes him look more like an educated kid, his always going to be a great friend of mine. My friend and I are almost like brothers because we known each other since we were five or six years old and in a weird point we call each other mothers aunt and their name. If l ever gets the chance I would say to him thank you for being a great friend of mine.

I would probably attend the college of UNO. Well because the main reason is that I might be interested in going to attend Computer Science. I'm not saying what I'm going to major because they might not have what I'm looking for but theres hope. What I like about going to UNO is that it's about four miles away from my house and that It's better than going to a out of state college, because of the how bad the economy is right now on how the gas price is going up which is driving the food prices up. Going to UNO right now is helping me understand what college is going to be like and also giving me the experience that I need.

Thank You UNO

Still In High School But Going To College

What encourage me the most to go here at UNO is to go to college and to know what college will be like. Going to college while still at High School might help me out what college would be like when I get into college. After a couple of day's of sitting in a classroom made me feel like a college student than a regular high school student taking a college class. What really motivates me is that I have the chance to go to the Summer Scholar Program in which most people don't get. I mean there are smarter people out there who has better grades than me who didn't get this opportunity and for some reason it kind of made me feel good inside.

The challenge I'm facing right now is going to college and hoping not to fail my sociology class or get a C in which is like failing to me. The other challenge is my job, asking them to cut my hours/days is not something I like to do. But really in a point I can't worry about that because this course I am taking in College (Sociology) is mush more important than just making 6 bucks and hour and making 3 dollars in tip and working 3 hours a night. Other thing that I am facing right now is my friends, that it feels like, in their facial expression and what their saying is that they don't want me to be in the summer school program, because they didn't want me to go to college at UNO and their looking at me that I'm wasting my summer which I'm not. The good thing is that I have a good sociology teacher saying that some of your friends will do that to you, in which they will put you down.

I learn that I'm luckier than some people, because their are some who did not get this great opportunity that I am getting right now in which I'm still in High School but I am going to college for the summer in which UNO is paying for my tuition. The experience that I am getting in this Summer School Program is that I feel smarter than ever and that I really don't care what other people think of me about me going to college, not in which my parent's are not saying not to go to college, in which they are supportive and which I am proud that I have a supportive family.
